4’x 9’x 12”
This piece is an exploration on the role of objects and images in the construction of memory and identity. The teacups, tools and other objects hang in space on wooden armatures constructed from old furniture parts. The objects in space imply movement and create images beyond themselves in shadows cast on the wall. Some pieces are sketched in porcelain and refer to an original, while others stand alone. The drawings contrast with these objects and refer to both real and imagined ancestors and memories, asking questions about the fluid nature of the narratives of self-hood.
